Treadmill Variations

Do you ever get bored running on a treadmill? Some people even cover the display so they won't focus on the time. Ok, let's be real for a second...it can get REALLY boring on that treadmill at times. So I want to share 2 variations you can add to your treadmill training to increase the intensity, calorie burn and give you a little something different to add to the mix.

  1. Incline Training is a favorite of mine because it recruits so many muscles, and elevates your heart rate more than running on a flat surface.  Both of those combined helps burn more calories too.  Set the grade between 5% and 15% and either power walk or jog. It's just that simple.

2.   Exercise-Jog/Sprint Intervals using the treadmill are extremely intense, and take a little more skill to master without fearing you'd lose a few teeth (Just joking but a little serious). You can jog or sprint for a period of time then jump off, and perform an exercise before jumping back on. My favorite is sprinting for almost 30 seconds then jumping off, and doing 20 smurf jacks. You can see an example by clicking HERE.

Adding a little creativity to your fitness 'routine' can go a long way in keeping you motivated, and seeing results., and overcoming new challenges will increase your self esteem while keeping you motivated to stay on course.
